Join Us … This is who we are and what we do
1st Frankby Greasby is a long established Group with a history of providing exciting adventurous activities for the young people of the local community at the same time as developing them physically, intellectually, socially and spiritually to take a constructive place in society.
The original 1st Frankby was formed in 1919 but only lasted a year. They tried again in 1927 and managed to stay open for four years. It was then re-opened in 1938 and was thriving, so much so that when it was proposed to open 1st Greasby in 1938 there were complaints. However, it was opened and in 1946 was merged with 1st Frankby to become 1st Frankby Greasby.
Today the Group still provides a full and exciting programme for all ages and is successful in many ways.
We have approximately 98 young people who actively attend Beavers, Cubs and Scouts as well as Leaders, Young Leaders (West Wirral Explorers) and Parent Helpers from the local area.
Each section has its own balanced programme of activities, badges and awards.
Beavers (ages 6–8) – Thursday Evenings – 6:30pm – 7:45pm
Beaver Scouts are our youngest members. They take part in a wide range of activities including games, crafts, singing, visits and good turns, along with plenty of outdoor activities.
They will also have the opportunity to take part in the fun and excitement of camps and sleepovers. It may be the first time they spend a night away from home so it’s a real adventure for them.
Cubs (ages 8-10½) – Tuesday Evenings – 6:30pm – 8:00pm (Currently Monday Pack has been closed due to lacks of Leaders and reduced Numbers)
Our Cub Scout Pack can have up to 30 Cub Scouts and they are split into smaller groups called Sixes. Cubs take part in a wide range of activities designed to be interesting and challenging. Our Cub Scout meeting consists of games and activities with plenty of time spent outdoors.
Camps and holidays are some of the most memorable events of the year for Cubs.
Scouts (ages 10½–14) – Wednesday Evening – 6:30pm – 8:30pm
Our Scout Troop consists of small units of six to eight Scouts called a Patrol, usually led by a Patrol Leader. Outdoor activities feature prominently, with the highlight being camping. Throughout the year, Scouts learn various skills, such as map reading, camp cooking and first aid as well as games, hikes, geocaching and many other activities.
Competitions, District and County events and various outside pursuit experiences are just some of the things they get up to.
Subs for each section are £38 per term (3 Terms per year) payable (£28.50 quarterly Standing Order, Cheque or Cash)
